Aishwarya and I share great comfort level: Akshay Kumar

Posted in Aishwarya Rai, akshay kumar, News on June 2, 2009 by nrmodh

While most work in the film industry has come to a standstill because of the current standoff between producers and multiplex owners, Akshay Kumar is working harder than ever before. He has shot for two films: Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan and Vipul Shah’s Action Replay back-to-back in April and May, and now, he proceeds to shoot for buddy Sajid Khan’s Housefull in July.

While many of his colleagues have taken off for holidays, Akshay has decided to work harder than before during this dry period.

“We all should get together to create a bank of work to be released in a tumble of films, once the releases begin. In fact, that’s what I’m doing.”

Akshay follows a Japanese philosophy on work ethics.

“When there was a strike in a shoe factory in Japan, all the workers, instead of staying home, got together and manufactured only shoes for the left foot. Then when the strike was over, they manufactured shoes for the right foot.” Even as Akshay gets busier than ever, he has decided not to do any off-beat films at the moment. The Tasveer 8 x 10 experience and its shockingly low opening have left him stunned.

“There’re too much financial stakes in my films. I have to be cautious,” he says. It’s third-time lucky for Akki.

Vipul Shah was keen to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay together in Waqt and Namastey London.

“But, because of Aishwarya’s problems with the dates, the films went to Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, respectively. And look at what the films did to the careers of those actresses! This time, Vipul and Akshay were determined to get their first choice for the heroine’s role,” says a source.

And it surely seems like the right choice. There’s magic in the air. Akshay and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are shooting in Karjat together. And the camaraderie reportedly is super-congenial. Akshay has been keen to work with Aishwarya for a long time. He earlier did Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Khakee with. But, there she played the antagonist.

“It’s great fun. And we share a great comfort level. I’m also very fond of Abhishek. So, it feels like one family,” says Akshay.

Ritesh-Genelia: Caught you again!

Posted in Genelia, News on June 2, 2009 by nrmodh

Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza can continue shouting from rooftops that they are not seeing each other but fact is that the two have been romantically involved for many years now. This picture of them hanging out together at a Mahim restaurant was taken on Saturday night, where the two were celebrating the success of Ritesh’s father Vilasrao Deshmukh being appointed as the Central Minister of Heavy Industries.

According to an onlooker, initially Ritesh, Genelia and their friends walked into the restaurant Goa Portuguesa but they promptly decided to not dine there as it was brightly lit. After that, they walked into Culture Curry, which was dimly lit.

The onlooker, who was present at the restaurant when the two walked in together, said, “Ritesh and Genelia came in with a couple of friends at 9.30pm to Culture Curry and were in a relaxed mood. Both of them were in the mood to celebrate the fact that Ritesh’s father was respectfully reinstated as one of the ministers. Ritesh and Genelia were wary of being photographed as they do not make public appearances together as they have kept their relationship under wraps.”

“I somehow managed to click their picture when they were seated inside the restaurant. They had ordered for traditional south Indian food. They were together for over two hours and were comfortable with several fans who occasionally approached them for autographs. While they readily gave autographs, they refused to be photographed together,” said the onlooker.

“We wonder why they are hiding their relationship when they look so good together and seem so completely in love?” added the source.

Aishwarya Rai looking extraordinary in ‘Action Replay’

Posted in Aishwarya Rai, News on June 2, 2009 by nrmodh

Action Replay The Bollywood stunner has been sitting for long make-up sessions while shooting Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s movie Action Replay in Karjat.

If you’ve been stumped by the plumed and feathered look of Ash in the stills of her Tamil film Endhiran , wait to see her makeover in Vipul Shah’s strangely themed film ‘Action Replay’ with Akshay Kumar .

Reports had it that Ash has been reporting late for shoots on the sets of the film at Nitin Desai studios in Karjat, but director Vipul Shah says the actress has to sit for long make-up sessions to get her look right for every scene.

“Aishwarya has an extraordinary look in the film. We always knew it would take time for her to get ready because of which we had planned the shoots accordingly,” Shah recently told a tabloid.

The director not just dismissed the reports of Ash’s late arrival on the sets, he goes on to laud her for the extra effort she’s putting in.

“In fact, she is working 15 hours every day for my film,” Shah is quoted as saying.

‘Action Replay’ is based on a unique concept. It’s a film in which the story progresses backwards in time.

Racist attacks in Australia a shame, says Aamir

Racist attacks in Australia a shame, says Aamir

addthis_pub = ‘nowrunning’;

New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) Bollywood star Aamir Khan has called the attacks on Indians in Australia “a shame”, a couple of days after megastar Amitabh Bachchan turned down the offer of an honorary degree from an Australian university in the wake of the attacks.

“(It is) most disturbing to hear about racist attacks on Indians living in Australia. Quite a shame,” Aamir stated on his blog http://www.aamirkhan.com.

The actor, who has just returned from a two-month sabbatical with his kids, feels it calls for immediate action.

“While this doesn’t mean that all Australians are racists, the frequency and seriousness of such attacks I think calls for an extraordinary reaction from the Australian authorities. And while we want action to be taken by authorities in Australia, we should remember all the crimes against foreigners who visit India,” he added.

Aamir’s reaction came after news of Shravan Kumar, an automobile engineering student from Andhra Pradesh, being attacked by two youths in Melbourne was splashed all over, inviting a lot of people to debate on the safety of Indian students in Australia.

“Let us hope and pray that Shravan recovers soon,” said Aamir.

There has been a spate of attacks on Indian students in Sydney and Melbourne, including at least three serious attacks.

Happy New Year is modern: Farah Khan

Posted in Farhan Akhtar, new releases, News on June 2, 2009 by nrmodh

After paying tributes to the 70’s and 80’s of Bollywood in Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Naa, director Farah Khan has set her next film Happy New Year in a “modern and contemporary” world.

Happy New Year is not like my older films. It is a very modern film, very contemporary,” Farah said when asked whether her third film would also carry the nostalgia of the 70s like her past films.

The movie, which is being produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, will reunite the successful on screen pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone from Om Shanti Om.

Happy New Year would definitely go on floors this year unlike what the grapevine has been. I am presently working on the script,” said Farah.

The director, however, refused to divulge the story line of the much-delayed and much-awaited movie.

Despite her professional commitments, which include direction, choreography and judging reality shows, the 44-year-old choreographer-turned-director manages to spend maximum time with her one-year-old triplets.

“Most of the time, I am with my children. If I am shooting in a nearby studio like the Yashraj one, I bring them over to the shoot,” explains Farah, who returns to the small screen as a judge of a new reality show – Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.

“It is very interesting to find different people doing different things. There have been people who did some really crazy stuff on the show,” says Farah, who has judged dance reality shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

After winning five Filmfare awards and a National Award in 2004 for choreographing Hrithik Roshan’s Idhar chala main in Koi… Mil Gaya, Khan keeps her choreography assignments limited to the films of her friends like Karan Johar.

“I cannot say yes to anyone and everyone who asks me to choreograph his film. You have to accept that as a director I am more popular and successful. So I want to concentrate on making films now,” she says while adding that she doesn’t regret the fact that she is no more a full-time choreographer.

In her long career as the leading choreographer in the industry, Khan has made international artistes like Shakira and Kylie Minogue dance to her tunes.

“I think Hollywood stars do a lot of rehearsals. Kylie also practice a lot despite being such a big star. They are more cooperative and disciplined. But here in India, you can never expect that with a star,” said Farah when asked to compare her experience with the two film industries.

Farah has also been roped in to choreograph a song in an Italian film called Oggi Spossi.

John Abraham hospitalised

Posted in John Abraham, News on June 1, 2009 by nrmodh
John Abraham

John Abraham seems to be running through a rough patch. The most recent mishap, and perhaps the most major of them all happened on Saturday when he fractured his foot. It happened while shooting a day-long cricket match for David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook.

Says a close friend of John, “The hard ball shot straight through the air and bang into John’s right foot and he heard a distinct crack. John knew something had gone awfully wrong in his foot. But he continued shooting throughout the day because he didn’t want to disrupt David’s schedule which required special permission for outdoor shooting.”

It was only after the day’s shooting that John, by then cringing in pain, sat down to examine the damage.

“The foot had swollen to twice its normal size. It wasn’t just a pulled muscle or a torn ligament as John had hoped. It was a full-blown fracture. And by playing cricket with injured foot, John made it worse,” says the friend.

After pack-up John walked to his car, drove off to the doctor who finally told John what he suspected the whole day. Verdict passed, John was rushed to the hospital in acute pain. Now he will need a month to recover. Fortunately for the actor there’s no shooting to be done. The next one month is devoted to acting workshops for Abbas Tyrewala which John can somehow limp through.

But all his friends and family agree the last week has been tough on John.

“He was down with a severe viral fever, followed by the whole unsavoury link-up with Katrina Kaif. Then John lost a favourite Uncle. And now his foot is fractured. Hopefully this is the climax of his crises,” says the friend.

Says John, “I really wouldn’t like to talk about it. But yes, I’m in a lot of pain. Fortunately no film is going to get affected.”

Bipasha Basu got to know about John’s injury on Sunday morning. John had sent her an sms about his condition on Saturday night. But she had already gone to sleep. Now she’s expected to rush back as soon as possible.

“It’s sad. But John was foolish to keep on playing when his foot was hurt instead of getting it checked.”

here’s the picture that was apparently taken in the ladies room at Cannes and has somehow managed to find its way on the Internet. Mid-day reported saying “The photo shows Aishwarya Rai with Elizabeth Banks and Eva Longoria in what seems like a candid moment between the women. Ash is clearly in a playful mood showing off a lighter side of her personality to the camera guy.
We wish we saw more such pictures of the actress rather than the boring poses we often get to see. Thoda aur chalega, Mrs Jr B!”

Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori Kites First Look

Posted in First Look, Hrithik Roshan, News on June 1, 2009 by nrmodh

While shooting a critical sequence in Santa Fe, Babara Mori made her shy co-star Hrithik Roshan discard his desi inhibitions to express love in a kiss. When asked about it Hrithik is amused. “Why are we even talking about kissing? Is that such a big deal? Hasn’t our cinema grown up? Yes, there’re kissing scenes in the film. But nothing to make me squirm. In fact I’d be more than happy and completely comfortable watching those kissing scenes with my wife, son and parents when the film is released.”

Rationalizing the need to look at lip-locking in Bollywood rationally Hrithik argues, “Kites is a love story. It’s about people in love. And what do people in love do to express their mutual feelings? In fact it was Barbara Mori who made me realize how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.”

This happened while Hrithik and Barbara were shooting a tough and dangerous action sequence in Santa Fe.

“We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so our director Anurag Basu suggested I kiss Barbara since we were doing something dead-defying and dangerous and potentially lethal. I reached out and kissed her on the cheeks. Barbara turned around to ask why I had kissed her on the cheek. ‘Given the same situation with your real-life wife Sussanne would you kiss her on the cheek?’ I was floored by her logic.”

The take was repeated. “And this time I kissed her the way real-life couples would in the situation. On the lips,” says Hrithik with matter-of-fact directness.

Most Hated People In Bollywood

Posted in himesh reshamiya, News, Rakhi Sawant, Ram Gopal Verma, Shahrukh khan on June 1, 2009 by nrmodh

I recently read that an Indian nerwspaper conducted a poll on the most hated people in bollywood !!

The list was topped by Himesh Reshammiya (pictured left) with 25% votes, next was Rakhi Sawant and Ekta Kapoor, followed by Ram Gopal Varma and Vivek Oberoi.

Though Himesh scored the highest in this poll, it is Ekta Kapoor’s hate club which leads with 86,860 members.

The second biggest hate club belongs to Himesh with 38,730 members.

And let’s talk about Shah Rukh Khan. His hate-love ratio is 1:100. While his hate club has 4000 members, his love group has 400,000! He is the only one with this kind of ratio, beating everyone in Bollywood!
